I AM THE LAW back in print!
It’s quite something to discover that the first print run of your first ever book has sold out before its publication day, but as awesome as that is I’m glad to say that I Am The Law: How Judge Dredd Predicted Our Future is back in print and copies are winging their way to stockists now!
This second printing comes with some very minor and probably-quite-pernickety amends to the text, along with some rather marvellous quotes from some rather marvellous people who were kind and generous enough to give their thoughts on The Book:
“A thorough and intelligent analysis of Judge Dredd as oracle. I tended to view it as ‘throw enough mud at the wall and some of it will stick’. Michael shows that more than a little of it has.” — John Wagner, co-creator of Judge Dredd
“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is a dense book, the product of intricate research and clear vision … a serious work for serious times … a mega-thesis describing Dredd’s future past as our present. An essential read for art historians and actual historians alike.” — SFX
“Radical, daring, hyper-intelligent and utterly vital. Molcher’s comprehensive account of the history and politics of Judge Dredd provides the first definitive assessment of one of Britain’s most successful and complex cultural exports. An extraordinarily ambitious and important piece of work.” — Ian Dunt, author of How To Be A Liberal
“A terrifying vision of the future as present. Molcher shows us in graphic detail how the politics of “law and order,” rooted in never ending fear and ever increasing police power, is leading us towards the dystopian hellscape that is Mega City One.” — Alex S. Vitale, author of The End of Policing
“Stunning … An absolutely phenomenal piece of comics scholarship” — El Sandifer, critic and author
“Why must these cringing leftie wokeazoid snowflakes continue their seemingly endless assault on Mrs Thatcher’s magnificent legacy? Damn the man Molcher as a blackguard, I say, and burn his ridiculous book. Nah, with I Am The Law, Mike has given Dredd the in-depth analysis the strip has long deserved. This one’s well worth your time” — Garth Ennis, writer of The Boys and Preacher
“Equally satisfying for a law geek and a comics geek” — David Allen Green, legal commentator
“Mike Molcher understands Judge Dredd ‘s place in history better than most. With I Am The Law he digs deep into where the fascist supercop and pop culture phenomenon came from and how the hit series has over the years — rather terrifyingly — predicted both our present and our future” — Rob Williams, writer on Judge Dredd
